Incarcerating pregnant women who drink alcohol

i cant believe any government is even thinking about doing this.  How many women will admit to drinking if they think they will incarcerated somewhere?  How will that help in the long term? If you take away the alcohol from an addicted person, that doesnt mean the problem is over.  Im sure this is one of those issues that has been misrepresented in the media and in fact the real model is a responsible, supportive one that cares and nurtures pregnant women, gives them the facts about alcohol and pregnancy, obtains appropriate diagnoses for existing children and assists the mother to obtain appropriate suport for a sustainable sobriety.  I am speaking about alcoholic women because social drinkers I am sure, once they found out that drinking alcohol causes such huge problems for their child, will stop drinking immediately.  Lets not forget that research shows that 96% of women with children diagnosed with FASD are social drinkers NOT alcoholic women.
